Facundo Suenzo, Ph.D.

Welcome to my professional website. I'm Facundo Suenzo, Ph.D. in Media, Technology and Society (Northwestern University).

I was born and raised in Argentina, where I earned my BA in Communication from the Universidad de San Andrés (UdeSA), an MA in Sociology from the Universidad Nacional del General San Martín (IDAES/UNSAM). In 2021 I started my graduate studies at Northwestern University, where I obtained my MA in Media, Technology, and Society (Northwestern University). My research interests intersect issues of gender, sexuality, digital culture, and technology. I have experience in both qualitative (interview, archival research, and ethnographic methods) and quantitative methods (survey methods and meta-analysis). I’m intrigued by how technology has transformed sexuality, intimacy, and love in today’s digital age. Specifically, my dissertation explores how various technological forms have transformed intimacy, sociability, and desire among gay men in Argentina from the democratic transition to the present. My work has appeared in New Media & Society, Journalism and Cuadernos.info. I coauthored The Patina of Distrust: What People Do With Misinformation, jointly with Eugenia Mitchelstein, Pablo Boczkowski, and María Celeste Wagner, forthcoming with the MIT Press in October 2025. During 2022-23 I was the Coordinator of the Center for Latinx Digital Media. Before Northwestern, I was one of the coordinators at the Center for Media and Society (MESO) in Argentina between 2018 and 2020.
